Step 1 – Check Our References

This is such an important step in the building process to make sure you’re working with people who have a good reputation and know what it takes to ensure customer satisfaction. You can see a list of Cavalier clients from across Australia here and their experiences working with our team.

Step 2 – Budget

Know what you can and want to spend. We all have a dream home in mind, whether the dream is achieved, has a lot to do with your budget. We can build to suit your budget, it is always important to understand what can be achieved for your budget. If you know what you can expect for your given budget then we will deliver satisfaction and some if not all of that dream.

Step 3 – Design Stage

Visit your local Cavalier Homes Show Home. We have been in the business a long time and can help you select the design and finish that best suits your requirements and budget. The Cavalier Homes sales consultants and design team will work with you so you can really enjoy the journey of building your new home. We will coordinate the whole process for you as we work with many top rated professionals throughout New Zealand, helping to make process stress free.

Step 4 – Customize

As part of the design stage, one of the most exciting aspects of building your own home is that you get to choose all the colours, fittings, and fixtures to reflect your own family’s personality, tastes, and needs. We have all the necessary consultants and Show Home examples to help you with this stage. By using our online Styled by Cavalier design studio, being well planned and choosing early, we can ensure that your building contract is fixed down to the last dollar.

Step 5 – Pre-contract Check

Once your final design has been completed, we can fully price your project and review it at the pre-contract meeting. We like to be completely transparent with all of our clients to ensure there is a clear understanding in terms of what is being supplied and paid for. We are open to questions and changes if required. A building consent can be applied for at this stage.

Step 6 – Contract Signing

It may take a couple of drafts to iron out all questions and include all features but when the time comes to sign the contract, it is important that you are completely comfortable and that you fully understand this document. As members of the Registered Master Builders Association, a standard full contract will be completed. This contract is quite simple and outlines stage payment options available to you and can be drawn to reflect your type of build, budget, and requirements.

Step 7 – Construction Start

The construction of your new home can commence once we have received the necessary documentation including relevant approvals and details of your finishes. You will receive your build programme from our office and foreman. This will outline all milestones including the following: start and end dates, council inspections, full build outline, and progress payment requirements. This is updated monthly or during site visits as required. Communication is the key to a seamless build process, and something we pride ourselves on.

Step 8 – Build Site Meetings

Watch your house take shape.  This is one of the most exciting parts – watching your dream take shape.  At crucial times during your build you may be required to attend site to make decisions that will last a lifetime. We encourage involvement. It’s your home and your ideas are crucial to the success of the build. Just because something might not be the norm doesn’t mean you can’t have it. We love people with distinct and individual tastes!

Step 9 – Final Walk Through

We will walk you through your new home to acquaint you with its features and the operation of various systems and components. We will explain your responsibilities for maintenance and upkeep, as well as warranty coverage and procedures. This is often referred to as a pre-settlement walkthrough. It’s also an opportunity to spot any items that you feel may need to be corrected or adjusted, we want you to be 100% happy with your new home.

Step 10 – Settling Into Your New Home

You can rest assured that our service to you will continue even after the construction process has finished.
