The Synergy 8 display home is a unison of creative design and innovative construction that has helped it achieve the maximum energy rating of 8 stars.
The cost of the lightweight cladding used in the Synergy 8 can be substantially less than traditional brick veneer finishes.
“We chose the Scyon range of cladding which is heavy duty but lightweight”, Dale Paddle said. “It is an advanced cement composite made from benign raw materials which are low in toxicity. Scyon products are very durable and low maintenance which helps create buildings low in lifetime energy consumption. It is also easy to install and highly resistant to damage from termites, rot and fire.” Read more
MACKAY’S Frier brothers spent more time out of the water than in during the opening round of the Offshore Superboats Championship at Newcastle at the weekend. Swells of three metres on Saturday and even larger at four metres on Sunday made conditions extremely difficult, with the super-fast boats smashing into wave after wave.
Only six boats finished the race on Sunday, when the Friers won the Supercat 1000 class in their boat The Good Guys, after winning pole position in the shootout on Saturday. Read more

Cavalier Homes has a reason to be proud as the company gets ready to take on the world market in building quality homes.
After making a name for itself on the Gold Coast in 1991, Cavalier Homes has grown to become one of the largest residential building companies in Australia. The company has also achieved significant exposure in the New Zealand market, and is starting up an office in Malaysia later this year.
Through national and global integration, the company now has over 60 franchises Australia wide and 14 in New Zealand, building about 1,200 houses a year.
Director Gus Bemportato started the company and never thought it would get as big as it is now. But the brand quickly found a niche, offering design-driven housing solutions for people wanting something different at a value-for-money price. “We started as a small building company and grew from there to set up display homes and became a project home builder,” says Gus. “After expanding through to Coffs Harbour, we never looked back. We now build just as many houses in Victoria as we do in Queensland, where we started.” Read more
